This initiative, facilitated through the Transjakarta Academy, seeks to equip these drivers with new skills and standards that can be implemented in Indonesia’s public transportation system.

Welfizon Yuza, the President Director of Transjakarta, revealed that the company is currently preparing 20 of its top bus drivers to be dispatched to Japan for an exchange program. This move is part of Transjakarta’s efforts to provide its drivers with exposure to new knowledge and standards that can be applied in Indonesia.
Welfizon explained that the objective of this exchange is to help the drivers acquire new skills and standards that can be brought back and implemented in Indonesia. This, he believes, will not only motivate the drivers but also demonstrate that the profession of a Transjakarta bus driver has a promising future and broader opportunities.
Transjakarta Academy: Developing Competent and Professional Drivers
The Transjakarta Academy is an official vocational training institution established by PT Transportasi Jakarta to educate, train, and enhance the competencies of its drivers and staff. The goal is to create a public transportation service that is safe, comfortable, and professional.
The intensive 6-8 week training program at the academy covers a range of topics, including defensive driving techniques, emergency situation handling, customer service, and basic bus maintenance knowledge. In addition to technical skills, the academy also imparts soft skills, such as effective communication, stress management, and driving ethics.
Experienced Instructors and Recognized Certifications
The Transjakarta Academy’s instructors are experienced practitioners, including traffic safety experts and transportation psychologists. Upon successful completion of the program, each participant receives a competency certificate recognized by the Ministry of Transportation, which can open up broader career opportunities.
